January 2016 Pastor's Points

Dear Church Family,

I could not be more excited about the beginning of a brand new year!!  I know 2016 will hold some heartache and challenges along the way, but I also know that new and exciting things are right around the corner as well!

  • New Prayer Emphasis

Please sign up for one of our host homes where we will be getting together to start 2016 off with a special emphasis of fellowship and prayer.  We will meet for four Sunday
evenings in January (10th, 17th, 24th, and 31st).  If you have kids or students you can drop them off at church at 5:15PM then get to your host home by 5:30PM.  You can then pick your kids back up at 7:00PM at the church.  This is super important so please be a part of it.

  • New Pastors @ Oakhill

Soon we will have our new Worship Pastor in place and I could not be more excited!  Our search has been ongoing and extensive and should be coming to a conclusion very soon.  Please be praying for this search process and the man that God has for us as our new worship pastor!

Also, be in prayer for the new Pastor position that was approved in our 2016 church
budget.  This new position is going to allow us to focus on discipleship like never before.   As a part of this emphasis you will be seeing and hearing more about the development of our own biblical counseling ministry as well.  Pray for this search process as well and the one that God is leading to our church to help us accomplish what God has for us.

  • New Possibilities of Ministry and Missions

Our church has so many ministry opportunities for you to be a part of in 2016.  Please be praying and asking God to show you where He would have you serve in the life of our church family.  If you have questions about how to get plugged into ministry please see one of your church staff!  They would love to help you find your place in ministry.

We also have many mission opportunities coming up as well.  You can be on mission right here in Evansville, go to Detroit, or even to India or China.  We have many opportunities to go all around the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ!  All you have to do is say “YES” and watch what God will do!  If you have any questions about mission’s opportunities please see Pastor
Bryan or call the church office and we will get you hooked up with one of our mission partners.

  • New Opportunities to Bring Glory to God

I believe by faith that God is going to place before us new opportunities to bring glory to Him.  Some of these ministry opportunities will help us reach out to the lost and hurting who desperately need to hear the Gospel.  I believe He is also going to open the door for us to continue to reach out to families who need to hear and live out the Gospel in their homes.   I also believe that God is going to take some through deep waters of sickness, challenge, and even loss for the purpose of shaping us more into His image, but if we will walk well through even our challenges we can and will bring glory to our great God.  I do not know exactly what 2016 holds for us, but I do know the one who holds our future in His hands.  I am excited for God to leads us and show us what it is that He has for us!!!

December Pastor's Points

Dear Church Family,

Merry Christmas!  It is hard to believe that I started my article to you with that phrase.  It seems like there is no way that Christmas should already be here once again.  2015 has flown by and 2016 is right around the corner.  So, I wanted to take just a few moments to reflect back on this past year and consider a few important dates still to come in 2015.

  • First, I want to praise God for allowing us to baptize 34 people this past year! He gets all the glory for each and every one of these lives that have been changed for all of eternity.  It is great to see children and adults publically declare their faith in Jesus and their desire to live for Him and Him alone!
  • Second, I want to praise God for your faithfulness in ministry. We continue to have people step up willing to serve in so many capacities.  Just one example of this is in our music ministry.  During a time of transition as we are looking for a new worship pastor, we have had Jeff Thornton and Troy Rhinefort step up to give leadership in our worship services, organize a Christmas Worship Experience through  our adult choir, and many volunteers stepped up to help our children’s choir present a wonderful Thanksgiving program to our church.  All I can say is thank you for the way you have served in 2015!!
  • Finally, I want to praise God for His faithfulness to us through your faithful giving. In 2015 our giving has consistently exceeded budget.   As of October 2015 our giving is exceeding budget by 11.2%.  With that we have decreased our debt by $125,000 since December 2014.  By the end of 2015 we will have given over $100,000.00 to missions.  We also set a target for 2015 to have 30 days of operating cash reserves; we currently have approximately 53 days of cash reserves which is $189,000.  We have renovated our kitchen and made other necessary improvements to our property as well.  And after all of that, our church and daycare have a net surplus of $111,500.00!! Thank you God for providing for us as you move on the hearts of your people!

Before I conclude I want to remind you to mark your calendars for two awesome Christmas events that are right around the corner.

  • Make sure to be here December 13th at 6:00pm for our Christmas Worship Experience. Our choir has been working diligently to present this gift to our church family and it is going to be amazing!  I have heard them practicing and all I can say is that you do not want to miss it!  You will want your family and friends to come and experience Christmas on this night!
  • Also, do not forget our Candles, Carols, and Communion services on Christmas Eve. We will come to together at 8pm and 10 pm for an intimate time of worship together as we remember the real meaning of Christmas.  This is one of my favorite services every year.  Please plan to attend!!!

I love you and I love being your pastor,

                                                   Alan Scott
