February Music Notes
Children’s Musical and Drama Event
By the time you read this, we will have already had our Sunday night, January 25th 6:00 PM kick off for the Children’s Easter Musical and Drama. The name of the Children’s Musical Production is, “Crown Him with Many Crowns”.
I want to share some of the details about this program:
This is going to be different from anything that we have ever done here at Oakhill. Our children will actually have the opportunity to create, design, and work in almost every aspect of the production. Here are the details:
- Our 3 yr. – Kindergarten Kids will have the opportunity to Sing, Dance, Learn Sign Language, Play Instruments, and make Crafts. They will be following a curriculum called, “Growing in Grace”. It is a children’s curriculum that is very similar to Kindermusik.
- Our 1st – 5th grade Kids will have the opportunity to participate in Drama, Sign Language, Prop Building, Set Designing, Staging, Singing, and Costume Designing.
Now that your child has received the books, CD’s, practice schedules, and learning materials that go with the production, please note that we will not be meeting on February 1st or February 8th. So, when we come back together on February 15th, we will begin the vocal and drama auditions and working on every aspect of the production.
This approach is different than ever before because we will have several coaches working with our kids in all of these areas. This allows your child to choose just what parts of the production they would like to participate in. Just as another piece of information, a light snack will also be provided every Sunday evening about half way through the kid’s time together.
The entire event culminates on Good Friday Night, April 3, 2015 at 7:00 PM, when our children will be leading us in a special night of worship and celebration of the Risen Savior. Please come out and support our kids and be sure to invite your friends and family. It is going to be a special night!
Valentine’s Banquet
On Sunday night, February 8th we will once again be having a Sweetheart Couples Dinner. This event was a huge success last year! We are very fortunate to be able to welcome back comedian, John Felts, as our entertainment for the evening. If you attended last year’s dinner then you probably remember the wacky and hilarious John Felts. Mark your calendars for this event, and buy those tickets today! You won’t want to miss it!
