The Blood of Christ
“7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace, 8 which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight 9 making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ
10 as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth.”
- Ephesians 1:7-10
How is it that something so simple can be the difference in life or death? Blood is a red liquid made up of plasma and a few different cells; it can’t possibly be that important. Yet, the blood that is flowing through your veins right now is what gives you life. It carries
oxygen throughout your body and key nutrients to your organs so they can perform their function. Blood also “carries carbon dioxide and other waste materials to the lungs, kidneys, and digestive system to be removed from the body.” You need it! Without your blood, your
life on earth is over!
“God's holiness demands that sin be punished - but God's love has provided the way of
redemption through Christ.” - Billy Graham
Without the blood of Christ, our eternal life is over! “In him we have redemption through his blood,” (Ephesians 1:7). It is through His blood we have hope and freedom. Through His blood, we can face the uncertainty of tomorrow without fear because our eternal lives are secure in Him. Through His blood we have purpose and meaning for this life here on earth, and a drive to glorify Him with everything we do. It is through His blood we have life!
“5 Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
- Romans 5:1
This same blood that gives us life, is the same blood that washes our sins (waste) away. It is because of the blood of Christ that we can find forgiveness for our deepest sins. It is because of the blood of Christ that we are born again and made new in Him. As Christ was whipped, pierced, and hung on the cross, His blood was making way for us to be redeemed and washed clean.
“There may be some sins of which a man cannot speak, but there is no sin which the blood of Christ cannot wash
away.” - Charles H. Spurgeon
I know we just celebrated Easter a few weeks ago, and we celebrated Christ's death and resurrection, but I hope we never forget the power of the blood of Christ. The perfect power to redeem us and save us from our sinful selves, for His blood gives us life and makes us clean!
Love you and mean it!
