The King is in the Room
Life is busy! There is always something going on to be a part of, or some event you feel the need to attend. Couple that with a long week at work, and it is easy to make the choice not to come to church for the sake of rest. Rest is good! You only need to read 32 verses into scripture to see that rest is good! But, are you trying to find rest in your own ability or seeking rest in the Lord? Are you gathering with fellow believers to be encouraged, sharing each other’s burdens? Are you spending time with the Bride of Christ, in God’s Word together, in prayer?
In this familiar verse in Matthew 18, we read Christ declare "20 For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.” You and I have heard those words uttered a million times, but do we believe it?
Recently we introduced a new song called “The King is in the Room” and it speaks directly to this idea that when we gather together, in the name of Christ, with the desire to praise Him, He is there. We gather to lay our crowns and every part of our lives at the throne of God. We declare that He alone is King! We believe that God, being all powerful and over all things, can take away all fear and shame, and wash away even the dirtiest of sins. We believe this!
The King is in the room
Lord, we enthrone You upon our praise
The King is in the room
There's freedom and life anywhere You reign
Jesus, we bow only to You
We're laying down all of our crowns
The King is in the room
Yeah, the King is in the room
This is where we find rest. This is where we find peace from this busy, difficult life that we live every day. When the trials of life are pressing in on all sides. When the doctor gives us a bad medical diagnosis. We find rest in the presence of God, with the people of God, giving Him the praise He so deserves.
“The rest that Christ gives is not a piece of negation. It is founded upon something positive – Christ himself. He said, ‘Come unto me and I will give you rest.’ There’s no rest in any other direction. He alone is the source of life, joy, and soul rest.” - Billy Graham
So the next time you wake up on a Sunday morning and just don’t want to get out of bed because you want more rest, just remember that the only true rest we can find is in Christ. Come to church. Respond to what God has done in your life through song, praise, prayer, and the reading of His Word. Come share your burdens with believers that care for one another. Come grow deeper in your walk with the Lord. Come find rest in Jesus Christ!
Love you and mean it!
