Global Hunger Relief
Global Hunger Relief seeks to put structure to the vast resources possible when God’s people give. Seven Southern Baptist entities cooperate to observe World Hunger Sunday. These partners include WMU, International Mission Board, and North American Mission Board.
Here are seven global statistics about hunger that you may not know:
1.) One in eight people go to bed hungry every night.
2.) Almost five million children under the age of five die of malnutrition related causes each year.
3.) Almost four in ten children in poor countries will suffer damage to their brains and bodies as a result of
being malnourished.
4.) 98% of the world’s hungry live in developing countries, mostly in Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa.
5.) 1/3 of the food produced in the world is never consumed. Most of the waste comes from poor farming practices in developing countries.
6.) Even in the United States, one in seven do not have enough to eat.
7.) 4.5 million meals were provided through Global Hunger Relief in America.
World Hunger Banks were distributed in June and will be returned on Sunday, August 3rd.
